Faisalabad, August 11, 2024 – In a shocking incident that occurred in broad daylight, a woman from the Christian community was raped by a robber during a robbery in Faisalabad on Sunday, August 11, 2024. The attack took place on the same day that Pakistan’s religious minorities were celebrating Minority Day across the country.
According to reports, a family from Chak No. 34 GB, Faisalabad, was traveling by motorcycle when they were intercepted by two armed robbers in the Sandal Bar area. The robbers first snatched cash and cell phones from the family. One of the assailants then dragged the woman to a nearby field and raped her, while the other held her husband and another female family member hostage at gunpoint.
After committing the heinous crime, the culprits fled the scene. The local police have registered a case against the unidentified suspects and have launched a manhunt to apprehend them.
Provincial Minority Affairs Minister Ramesh Singh Arora has taken serious notice of the incident, condemning the rape of the Christian woman. He emphasized that the protection of religious minorities is a top priority and assured that those responsible would be brought to justice. Minister Arora has instructed the Chief Police Officer (CPO) to ensure the safety of the victim and her family.
Minister Arora has also directed that the victim be provided with the best possible medical care and that a thorough medical examination be conducted. He has ordered a detailed report on the incident to be submitted within 48 hours to ensure swift action is taken.
This tragic event has sparked outrage and concern among the Christian community and other minority groups, who are demanding justice and stronger measures to protect vulnerable populations in Pakistan.
